What does N or LBS on my gas spring mean?
The force of a gas spring is expressed in Newton or LBS. European gas springs have the letter ‘N’ for Newton. The Newton value can easily be used to estimate the kilogram force: 1 kg is equivalent to approximately 10N. For example, if your hatch weighs 10 kg, you will need a 100N gas spring. This is a rough estimate.
For a spring marked in LBS, 1 kg is equivalent to approximately 2.2 LBS.
